"I'm too tired" or "There's no time with two kids" or "My mom was here a month and she's the only one who reads this blog."
Well, I'm getting enough to sleep to afford checking my email several times a day, evidently I am not the only person who has had to figure out priorities with 2 kids, and my mom has been gone as many weeks as she was here. My excuses are lame, even to me.
It's not that I don't want to blog about her. She really is a special presence in our home. I just don't know how to put into words what we love about her without appearing flippant regarding sacred things.
Suffice it to say, Mimi is loved. She had a rough 8 weeks, but week 9 is proving merciful. She is sleeping better (thanks to a white noise CD, Stefan's bean bag, a little weight gain, and a whole lot of prayers). She is eating better. She is acting better. Amazing what a full belly and adequate sleep can do for the personality. She is also letting us put her down both while she sleeps and during the waking hours. The dust is settling around here and I think we're getting a handle on our new life.
One of the challenges is her rapid growth coupled with limited time to watch her grow. Jonas took his sweet time reaching milestones; seeing her regular smiles and attempts at rolling over are exciting, rewarding, and a little disconcerting. Jonas rolled over at 5.5 months and didn't start smiling regularly until about the same time. I imagine at 5.5 months, Mimi will be worlds ahead of where he was.
We're constantly amazed at her progress and relish this time with our baby girl. Mimi completes our family right now and is the best thing that ever happened to Jonas.
We love our Littles.
Special thanks to Rachael Pullman Photography for the beautiful newborn shots.
