Praise to the Man

President Gordon B. Hinckley
23 June 1910 - 27 January 2008

The death of President Hinckley is bittersweet. He is the only prophet I have known, and as such, has been instrumental in shaping who I am and the decisions I make. My testimony has grown because of his unwavering optimism and firm knowledge of God's plan. I feel like a family member has passed through the veil. It is heart-wrenching to know I will not hear his witty sense of humor or Spirit-driven guidance this April, but a tender mercy to know he is reunited with our Father and with his wife and that I may join them when the time comes.

American Idol, Eat Your Heart Out

Can it be disputed who has the cutest nephews in the world? I'm sure it can, but since this is my blog, I say my nephews are the cutest. Any comments to the contrary shall be deleted immediately (j/k).

This is a video of Carson at Christmas. He cracks me up.

After he sang to me, he said, "Do you know why I went fast at the end? It's because I just felt like going fast. But I probably shouldn't have gone so fast." It was cute to see him self-reflect on his performance. In all reality, they were about to make gingerbread houses, so that is likely the reason he "felt like going fast."

On a totally unrelated note, when told I was a teacher in Texas, Carson responded, "Do they have schools in Texas?! I thought she was a cowgirl!"

Happy 2008

Happy New Year! A Christmas post is still in the works since I don't have all the pictures yet, but until then, enjoy. On New Years Eve around 6 pm we decided upon a new tradition. I had been searching all day for something that would be fun to maintain since neither of really have any New Years traditions. Hastily, we decided that since it is the new year, we will make dinner together and each try out something new that we have never done before. We didn't attempt very difficult recipes since it was already so late. I opted for a delicious lemon cake and P made a turkey meat loaf. Next year will likely be slightly fancier, but it was fun to start anyway.
